Toilets Flush Slowly

When your septic tank is excessively full, your toilet may start acting odd. You might find that your toilet doesn’t fully flush or flushes very slowly and odd noises occur when you flush your toilet. These noises usually sound like gurgling or bubbling.

What is the life expectancy of a septic system?

Septic systems can last up to 25 years — or indefinitely in rare cases. It completely depends on the maintenance of the system. If you get regular inspections and make repairs as needed, your concrete septic tank can last longer than a lifetime.

The Do’s and Don’ts when maintaining your septic system

  • Regularly inspect and maintain your septic system
  • Pump your septic tank as needed
  • Keep your septic tank lids closed and secured
  • Be water-wise
  • Direct water from land and roof drains away from the drain field
  • Landscape with love
  • Keep septic tank lids easily accessible

Inspect and Pump Frequently

Household septic tanks are typically pumped every three to five years. Alternative systems with electrical float switches, pumps, or mechanical components should be inspected more often, generally once a year. A service contract is important since alternative systems have mechanized parts
